Honda CB250SS Scrambler Design

The design is the biggest strength of this bike. Honda has kept it minimal and retro, inspired by classic scramblers from the 70s. You get a round LED headlamp with a small grille, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank with knee pads, a flat scrambler-style seat and high-mounted upswept exhaust. The wide handlebars give you a very upright and commanding riding position. The bike uses spoke wheels with block pattern tyres – 19-inch at front and 17-inch at rear – which are perfect for both tarmac and broken roads. The overall fit and finish is very Honda-like, premium and built to last. It looks much more expensive than its actual price.

Honda CB250SS Scrambler Performance

The CB250SS Scrambler is powered by a 249cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces around 23.5 PS of power at 8500 rpm and 21 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch. The engine is tuned for strong low and mid-range torque, which is very useful in city traffic. You don’t need to shift gears frequently.

The top speed is around 130 kmph and it can cruise comfortably at 90-100 kmph all day. For mileage, Honda claims an ARAI mileage of 38-40 kmpl, but in real world city conditions you can expect around 32-35 kmpl. The engine is very refined and vibrations are well controlled, which is a typical Honda trait.

Honda CB250SS Scrambler Safety Features

Despite being a retro bike, it comes with modern features. You get a fully digital LCD instrument cluster with gear position indicator, fuel gauge, real-time mileage and Bluetooth connectivity for call alerts. Safety features include dual-channel ABS, disc brakes at both ends (310mm front, 240mm rear) and side-stand engine cut-off. The suspension is also well tuned – telescopic forks at the front with 130mm travel and twin shock absorbers at the rear with 5-step preload adjustment. The ground clearance of 165mm is enough for Indian roads and light trails. The seat height of 790mm makes it accessible for riders of all heights.

Honda CB250SS Scrambler vs Rivals – Should You Buy It?

The main rivals of CB250SS Scrambler are Royal Enfield Scram 411, Yezdi Scrambler and Husqvarna Svartpilen 250. Compared to Royal Enfield, the Honda is lighter (weighs only 152 kg), more refined and has better mileage. Compared to Yezdi, it has better reliability and lower maintenance cost. If you are a beginner who wants a stylish, low-maintenance and easy-to-ride scrambler for daily use and occasional weekend rides, the Honda CB250SS Scrambler is a very strong contender. Its on-road price under Rs. 2.60 lakh makes it a value for money proposition in the 250cc scrambler segment.
